Olga,

Six years ago, the Tea Party blasted into Washington with a wave of anti-government anger.

The 2010 election was bad. Really bad. We lost Senate races that Democrats should never lose: Wisconsin. Pennsylvania. Ohio. Even the seat President Obama had held in Illinois.

This November, we can finally fix that terrible Election Day, and we can take back the Democratic majority in the Senate. But our candidates really do need help before their big deadline tonight.

I’m sure your inbox is as full as mine with emails from good Democrats asking for support, but I wanted to recommend four Senate candidates who need help by midnight tonight:

  • Russ Feingold (Wisconsin): Russ Feingold has been a champion for working families long before I got to the Senate. And his radical Tea Party opponent, Ron Johnson, isn’t just supporting Donald Trump – he’s already given them the nickname “the Ronald and the Donald.” Russ is up in the polls, and this one is a no-brainer. Let’s get Russ to the Senate.
  • Tammy Duckworth (Illinois): Just a few days ago, Tammy and I joined together on the House floor to sit-in against gun violence, and if you haven’t seen the photos of her in the Chicago Pride Parade this past weekend, you should look them up. Tammy is a passionate fighter – and she’s going to keep fighting in the United States Senate. The pundits say Illinois is our top pickup opportunity in the country, so let’s get in there and fight for Tammy.
  • Ted Strickland (Ohio): Republicans are desperately trying to save their Senate seat in Ohio, and our terrific candidate – former Governor Ted Strickland – is being bombarded with some of nastiest attacks of the election cycle. But despite all the mud the Republicans sling at him, Ted is still tied in the polls. Ted will be a strong partner for Sherrod Brown and me in the Senate, but he needs money to fight back against all these attacks. Let’s help Ted fight back.
  • Katie McGinty (Pennsylvania): The GOP hasn’t won Pennsylvania in a presidential election since 1988, and former Wall Street banker Pat Toomey is one of the more conservative members of the Senate. We can and should win in Pennsylvania, and we can send Katie McGinty – a proven leader in clean energy and environmental protection – to the Senate. But I won’t sugarcoat it: this is going to be a close, tough campaign. Let’s give Katie the boost she needs to win.

Deadlines like today are important for showing that the momentum is on our side to take back the Democratic majority – and, heaven forbid, build a Senate firewall if Donald Trump wins the White House.

Wisconsin, Illinois, Ohio and Pennsylvania are all seats we should’ve won in 2010 – and CAN win in 2016. Every single one of these candidates can make it in November – but they need your help today.

Please donate to Russ Feingold, Tammy Duckworth, Ted Strickland, and Katie McGinty’s campaigns by midnight tonight. Even $5 makes a big difference.

Thanks for being a part of this,

Elizabeth
